Ms. Judith Valerian

valerian 150x150Judith Valerian holds MSc Agribusiness and Food economics from Copenhagen University in Denmark and a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro, Tanzania. She is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Food and Resource Economics (DeFRE) at the School of Agriculture Economics and Business Studies (SAEBS) at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA).

Judith is a self-motivated and proactive young teacher and a researcher who enjoy teaching, doing consultancy and research. She is an expert in Agricultural economics and Agribusiness, specializing in Agribusiness and food economics. In general her work includes lecturing students enrolled under the Department, researching on issues related to Agribusiness, agricultural policies, agricultural development, Management and development of smallholder farmers as well as conducting consultancy services on medium Agribusiness firms.

She has participated in different projects/research which includes Agricultural land dynamics and land policy in rural Tanzania which is under USAID and ASPIRES. She is also currently working with high-learning research network (HI-LINE) which is an initiative under Business Environment Strengthening Policy Dialogue (BEST-D) involved mostly with advocacy research. She also worked on a small research on Piloting a Farming Systems Approach to Investment Planning for Climate-Smart Smallholder Agriculture in Africa with Queensland University and SUA.
